Some people often have questions about what a personal trainer does, well here are some answers to those questions
What is a Personal Trainer?
A personal trainer (PT) is a certified individual who has knowledge, skills, abilities and most importantly experience to design a safe and effective exercise program for the individual(s) they are training. All Pts have varying degrees of knowledge but all must pass a industry recognised level 3 certificate in personal training. Pts can give you a push when you might normally call it a day, therefore helping you achieve your health and fitness goals, a lot quicker.
Is it worth having a personal trainer and what are the benifits?
Yes, especially if you’re new to the gym or have a specific training goal or want to improve quickly. Also some trainers may have experience training specialist or specific population groups (age, physical or medical conditions). It’s always good to ask the personal trainer about their levels of experience and expertise if you have any concerns or particular goals you’d like to work towards.
The benefits of having a personal trainer is they will make sure you perform exercises correctly and safely. If you want to try something new like lifting weights getting the technique right is vital. They will also ensure your posture, position, or range of movement. are correct. Personal trainers will create a tailored training programme to suit your needs, abilities and goals. For example, if your goal is to lose weight, your programme will include specific weight-loss exercises.Your personal trainer will monitor and adapt your plan based on your progress.
How much does a personal trainer cost?
The cost of a personal training session varies. Our prices for Platform Gym members start at £20 per session (typically 45 to 60 minutes) The cost of a personal training session is separate to your membership. If you’d like to know more please speak to Steven or Nicola directly about how much they charge.
What will happen in my first pt session?
You might find your personal trainer will ask you to perform some exercises and take body measurements. These are a good way to help them evaluate and record your current fitness levels and measurements. Then further down the line do a similar test and compare the two. This is a great way to record how much you’ve improved in few weeks/months.
